Paphos Aphrodite Festival
In September held in the atmospheric location of Paphos medieval harbour since 1999, the Paphos Aphrodite festival brings opera to the island each September. Given that Paphos was the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love, an operatic celebration is surely apt, although many of the great opera masterpieces also end in tragedy.

Festival of Ancient Greek Drama
In July till August the glory of ancient Greek drama is revived at the Ancient Odeon of Paphos (and other venues around Cyprus) with a month-long festival that includes performances of comedies and tragedies by theatre companies from around the world.
